Accrington Cine Club was established in the 1950′s in Oswaldtwistle. Cine cameras were all the rage using 8 mm reels of film, mostly with no sound track. The processing was costly and took too long for the impatient cine man. I must say we learned a lot about wasting footage, for most reel’s were only four and half minutes long. You could film a wedding on two reel’s and every one there was in the movie. We were lucky to have a Theatre to use where many film shows and events were featured. We had lots of fun then. Now we are in the digital age, a world with it’s fancy gadgets and computers to aid the film buffs.
